Alberta PNP- Express Entry Stream

As per the latest update, Alberta is issuing Notification of Interest (NOI) to Express Entry candidates through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). The province has started this stream to select and notify the Express Entry pool candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Since then, a considerable number of applicants are applying in this stream every month. After the recent update/amendment in AINP, now Alberta PNP has three key streams, i.e.

• Alberta Opportunities Stream
• Alberta Express Entry Stream
• Alberta Self Employed Farmer Stream

Alberta- Express Entry stream is one among the newest immigration streams introduced by Alberta PNP. 

Note: Alberta has changed the name of its PNP, i.e. Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) on February 16, 2022. The new name of AINP is Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). It has also announced new streams and changes on this day.

AINP- Express Entry Stream 

Alberta- Express Entry stream has become quite popular among all the PNP stream of Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program in a short span. It allows the province to access the pool of candidates in Federal express Entry system and notify them to apply for provincial nomination. 

The applicants, who apply and receive a nomination through Alberta, become eligible to get 600 additional points in federal express entry system. Such a massive addition of points enables the applicants to get the Canada PR invitation from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). 

What is the Notification of Interest (NOI) of Alberta?

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) send the Notifications of Interest (NOI) to the candidates in Express Entry pool, based on their given profile details. You can receive the notification of interest if your profile is in Express Entry pool, and you meet the essential eligibility criteria of the given Express entry stream of AINP.

What are the criteria to get Notification of Interest (NOI) from Alberta?

As an applicant, you get the NOI, if you meet the following criteria:

• Must have stated an interest in immigrating permanently to Alberta
• You are working in an occupation that supports Alberta's economic development and diversification, and
• You have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300.

What is the Assessment Criteria of Alberta Express Entry Stream to get the provincial nomination?

If you have received the notification from the Alberta PNP to apply for Express Entry Stream of AINP, you need to make sure that you fulfil the assessment criteria. You should only apply if you can see that you are meeting the below parameters:

To get the provincial nomination, you need to:

• Have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool
• Meet the criteria of at least one of the federal immigration programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program or Federal Skilled Worker Program
• Intend to and be able to live and work in Alberta
• Be working in an occupation that supports Alberta's economic development and diversification
• Have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300.

If you have one or more of the below adaptability factors, your chances of getting a nomination will increase:

• Valid Alberta job offer and/or work experience
• A graduate of an Alberta post-secondary institution with a valid Alberta job offer, or
• Parent, child, brother and/or sister is a permanent resident living in Alberta, or a Canadian citizen living in Alberta.

What are the factors, which can decrease your chances of getting NOI?

If you meet one or more of the below factors, it can decrease your chances of getting a Notification of Interest (NOI) letter from Alberta province of Canada.

• Your Express Entry profile is expiring in 3 months or less
• You are working in an occupation: 

• on the list of High-wage and low-wage occupations in the province of Albertaset out on the online Government of Canada Refusal to Process a Labour Market Impact Assessment list
• on the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations list, located on this page under the Alberta Opportunity Stream section
• that has a high volume of submissions across all AINP streams
