Upcoming Express Entry Next Draw Prediction 2025

If you are aiming for Canadian Permanent Residency through the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program within the Express Entry system, closely monitoring upcoming Express draw predictions for 2025 is crucial.

A positive development is the increased frequency of category-based Express Entry draws by IRCC. This often results in lower Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirements in these draws, potentially increasing your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Moreover, the number of ITAs (Invitations to Apply) are also at higher side. Let’s try to understand Express Entry next draw prediction by analysing the Express Entry draw history as well as the latest EE draw trend.

Express Entry draws so far in 2024

In 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted 52 Express Entry draws, issuing invitations to 98,903 candidates to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR). The most recent draw, held on December 16, 2024, targeted 1,085 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 727 or higher.

Throughout 2024, the minimum CRS score required by IRCC for Express Entry draws has consistently been low across all categories. This trend is expected to continue in 2025.

The lowest cut-off score observed in 2024 was 354 points. This occurred on September 28, 2024, in a category-based draw for candidates in the Agriculture and Agri-food sector, where 600 invitations were issued.

Prediction of CRS score in upcoming Express Entry draws 2025

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has increased the frequency of category-based Express Entry draws. This means candidates are now receiving Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) based primarily on their occupation, even with lower Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores.

Predicting future Express Entry draws in 2025, it's likely that cut-off scores will remain low in category-based draws. However, cut-off scores in all-program Express Entry draws may continue to be relatively high.

IRCC has sustained existing categories for Category-based Selections in 2024

As per the latest update, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced to sustain the six categories implemented last year (i.e. in 2023) for selection in category-based Express Entry draws.

Find below the six categories IRCC retained by IRCC for category-based selections in the Express Entry draws of 2024:

  1. Healthcare
  2. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  3. Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
  4. Transport
  5. Agriculture and agri-food
  6. Strong French-language proficiency

Understanding Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

It is a merit-based selection system used by the Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The Canada's immigration authority assign a CRS score out of 1200 to each applicant who enters the Express Entry pool under all three programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class.

Point Allocation under Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

In order to rank candidates, the IRCC assigns a CRS score to each applicant in the EE pool out of 1200, which includes:

  • Core: Up to 600 points
  • Skills and experience factors
  • Spouse or common-law partner factors, such as their language skills and education
  • Skills transferability, including education and work experience

  • Additional: Up to 600 points
  • Canadian degrees, diplomas or certificates
  • a valid job offer
  • a nomination from a province or territory
  • a brother or sister living in Canada who is a citizen or permanent resident
  • strong French language skills

If your CRS score is low in Express Entry, you can apply to a Provincial Nominee Program and increase your CRS point score by 600 CRS points.
