Eligibility criteria to apply for Parents and Grandparents super visa

A super visa allows the visa holder to visit and be with children or grandchildren in Canada for up to 2 years at a time. This multiple entries visa provides multiple entries for a period of up to ten years. However, if you want to stay in Canada for 6 months or less, apply for a Canada visitor visa.

Eligibility criteria to apply for Parents and Grandparents super visa

To apply for Parents and Grandparents super visa, you need to-

• be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian permanent resident or citizen
• have a signed letter from your child/grandchild, who invites you to Canada that comprise:
• a promise of financial support for the period of your visit
• the list and number of people in the household of the person inviting
• a copy of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident document of the person inviting
• have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that is:
  • effective for minimum one year from the date of entry
  • minimum $100,000 coverage
  • have evidence of the paid medical insurance (quotes are not accepted)

You also need to:

• apply for a super visa from outside Canada
• be allowed to enter Canada
• take an immigration medical exam
• fulfil some other conditions
