The MPNP Business Investor Stream (BIS) is designed to help Manitoba recruit and nominate eligible foreign entrepreneurs and business investors who have a true intention and an ability to start or buy businesses in Manitoba.

There are two pathways under BIS:

The Entrepreneur Pathway- For applicants looking to start or purchase a business in Manitoba or become partners in an pre-existing business in Manitoba within 24 months of arrival on a temporary work.

The Farm Investor Pathway- For applicants who intend to establish and run a farm operation in rural areas in Manitoba. Applicants must have farm business experience and sufficient investment capital.

Business Investor Stream – Eligibility Criteria

Entrepreneur Pathway

Farm Investor Pathway

A Minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience gained in past five years either working in a senior management role or as an active business owner
Minimum CLB/NCLC 5 for language proficiency
Minimum Canadian high school education equivalent amount of foreign education
Minimum investment of $250,000 for businesses in the Manitoba Capital Region. $150,000 for business outside of the Manitoba Capital Region.
The proposed business must create a minimum of 1 job for a Canadian Citizen or PR holder in Manitoba
A detailed business plan to be submitted with an application
Minimum of $500,000 personal net worth verified by MPNP's verified third-party supplier

A minimum of 3 years of experience in farm ownership and operation
Minimum investment of 300,000 if expected to establish a farm business (in eligible tangible assets)
Detailed farm business plan to be submitted along with an application
Conducting a Farm Business Research Visit is a must
Should have ongoing and recurring activities in rural area
Must live on the farm and participate in the farm business management
Farm business has to be economically viable
Minimum of $500,000 personal net worth
