Alberta is providing support to Students and Tech Entrepreneurs

Canadian province Alberta is offering key support to students and Tech Entrepreneurs in the province. As part of the province’s Child and Youth Well-being Action Plan and via Budget 2022, government is allotting an extra $110 million over 3 years to deal with mental health, specialized assessments and learning loss supports.

The Provincial government will also re-establish a pilot program to offer $3 million to nonprofitmaking organizations to lead pioneering school nutrition projects next school year.

The province is also spending up to $10 million per year for 2022-23 and 2023-24 to support improved access to specific assessments. This comprise funding to make certain children and students, who may not have had access to dedicated assessments during the pandemic, can be evaluated by trained professionals containing speech language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists or psychologists.

Support system for Tech Entrepreneurs

Alberta is also offering support for the development and attraction of talent, business and job-creating investment through the Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy.

The tech industry is vital to help expand province’s economy and development. Technology sector is developing year over year and government is committed to further tech sector growth.

As per Doug Schweitzer, Minister of Jobs, Economy and Innovation,

 “Investments like this are critical to ensure that we have a strong economic future in Alberta. We are doubling down on entrepreneurs who will define the future of our province. These risk-takers will diversify our economy by creating new companies and jobs while attracting investment and more talent.”

The Alberta Technology and Innovation Strategy is targeting to grow the sector and help to produce 20,000 jobs and rise tech company revenue to $5 billion by the end of year 2030.

To meet this target, provincial government will make available $1.8 million in operative funding over 3 years to Platform Calgary for the Innovation Centre. It will offer entrepreneurs access to programs, guidance and connections, and raise innovation in the tech sector under one roof. The Launched in 2018, platform Calgary was previously popular as Calgary Technologies Inc.
