Canada may soon release its immigration level plan for 2023-2025

Canadian government is likely to announce its multiyear immigration level plan 2023-25. The Canadian immigration department, IRCC (Immigration Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) releases the immigration levels plan for next three years.

The IRCC release this plan every year on 1st November to revealing the number of permanent residents to be invited under different categories, i.e. economic programs, family-sponsored programs, and refugee and humanitarian programs etc.

Since, immigration plan in was not release as per the schedule in November 2021, therefore it was released by IRCC in first quarter of this year, i.e. February 2022. This happened as per IRPA regulations, as after the election, Parliament did not resume until November 22, 2021, after which it only sat for 19 days.

Existing immigration plan

As per Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2022-2024, the IRCC aims to welcome 431,645 new permanent residents in 2022, 447,055 in 2023 and 451,000 in 2024. Overall, it plans to admit over 1.3 million newcomers by the end of 2024. Canada has already welcomed more than 300,000 permanent residents this year and hence, it is well on the road to achieve the target for the year 2022, i.e. 431,645. Almost 60 percent of newcomers (i.e. 241, 850) will get the admission under the economic immigration programs, i.e. Express Entry System, Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), AIP (Atlantic Immigration Program), etc.

What to expect from immigration level plan 2023-25

The upcoming immigration level plan (2023-25) will reveal the breakdown of the number of immigrants to be invited under each migration category, i.e. Economic, Family class and Humanitarian program, in the year 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Considering the current immigration trend, positive steps being taken by the government, and recent reports, the IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) may extend the annual immigration target to 500,000 new Permanent residents. However, the final decision regarding this remains with government of Canada and the immigration department, i.e. IRCC.

At now, the popular federal Express Entry System and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) of Canada are inviting significant number of immigration candidates through their periodic draws or invitation rounds.
