Canada Latest Travel and Approved Vaccine update 30-11-2021

Amidst the easing Covid-19 situation in Canada-the maple leaf country, the Canadian government has released a few new travel measures/updates regarding traveling to and from Canada. The government has also released the latest list of approved vaccines in Canada. All these measures will be applicable from today, i.e.November 30, 2021.

Here are the crucial travel and vaccination measures applicable from 30 November 2021:

  • Pre-entry molecular test result not required- With effect from 30 November, Canadians or people, who have right of entry, qualify as fully vaccinated travellers and who re-enter Canada within 72 hours of leaving, don’t require providing a pre-entry molecular test result
  • Travellers aged 12 years and older need full vaccination- From November 30, 2021; all travellers in Canada, aged 12 years and older require a full vaccination against COVID-19.
  • Three New Covid-19 Vaccines approved- Canada has added three new World Health Organization (WHO) approved Covid-19 vaccines in the list of approved vaccines in Canada. From November 30, 2021 below thre Covid-19 vaccines will be accepted by Canada:
    • Bharat Biotech (Covaxin, BBV152 A, B, C)
    • Sinopharm (Beijing) BBIBP-CorV (Vero Cells)
    • Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc)

New List of Accepted vaccines by Canadian government

  • Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2)
  • Moderna (Spikevax, mRNA-1273)
  • AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria, COVISHIELD, ChAdOx1-S, AZD1222)
  • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)
  • Bharat Biotech (Covaxin, BBV152 A, B, C)
  • Sinopharm (Beijing) BBIBP-CorV (Vero Cells)
  • Sinovac (CoronaVac, PiCoVacc) Starting

Who qualifies as fully vaccinate traveller?

To qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller to Canada, you need to have received:

  • minimum 2 doses of a Government of Canada-accepted COVID-19 vaccine or a mix of 2 accepted vaccines, or
  • at least 1 dose of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine,
  • have received your second dose at least 14 full days prior to the day you enter Canada
  • upload your proof of vaccination in Arrive CAN
  • have no signs or symptoms of COVID-19
  • meet pre-entry testing and all other requirements:
  • upload your proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN
  • have Arrive CAN receipt with letter V or I beside your name
  • meet all other entry requirements (for example, pre-entry test result)

In another important announcement Canadian government, the Canadians citizens, and permanent residents, who have been in the Southern Africa region within the past 14 days, i.e.South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Namibia:

  • Require following new pre-entry testing before continuing their journey to Canada, and post-arrival requirements

Overseas citizens, who have been in these countries within the period of 14 days, will not be allowed entry into Canada. This latest measure has been taken in wake of the recent outbreak of new Covid variant, i.e. Omicron in the above-mentioned regions.
