Last year, i.e. on September 21, 2021, ESDC (Employment and Social Development Canada) and Statistics Canada revealed the new National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021. The IRCC (Immigration Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) also confirmed that it would switch from NOC 2016 to NOC 2021 in late 2022.
Finally, we are on the verge of witnessing this transition from NOC 2016 to NOC 2021. The Express Entry as well as all other Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) of Canada will adopt the new NOC 2021 Version 1 from November 16, 2022.

Switching to new NOC 2021
The National Occupational Classification (NOC) every ten years undergoes a major structural amendment whereby the structure of the Classification and the existing occupational groups are assessed. The announcement of the NOC 2021 is the product of this 10-year cycle. It will show changes in the economy and in the nature of work.
Summary of changes
The new NOC 2021 comprise structural changes i.e. addition, aggregation or merging, and splitting of unit groups as well as the restructuring of a few groups across extensive occupational categories and TEER (Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities) categories. The new NOC 2021 also:

16 New occupations to be added in NOC 2021
The existing NOC 2016, marks occupations eligible for Express Entry from Skill Level B and above. Under NOC 2021, TEER 3 and above will be eligible.
