France Targets to welcome 20,000 Indian students by 2025

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to France on July 13 and 14, India and France issued a joint statement. Both the countries discussed methods to jointly surge the mobility of students, professionals and skilled workers while consolidating their efforts to combat irregular migration between the two. This joint statement issued by both the nations, highlights the mutual recognition of the benefits of bilateral student mobility in encouraging entrepreneurship and creativity between them.

France aim at 20,000 Indian students by 2025

The Macron government aims to develop business opportunities, start-ups, and innovation between India and France and hence, wishes to welcome 20,000 Indian students to study in France by 2025.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Paris, he and President Emmanuel Macron engaged in a dialogue on increasing number of students, professionals, and skilled worker mobility while also co-operating to combat asymmetrical migration between both the countries.

Both nations are committed to executing the Partnership Agreement on Migration and Mobility, which came into existence on October 1, 2021, targeting to simplify temporary circular migration, endorse mobility, and encourage the return of skills to the home country.

Back in 2019, there were 10,000 Indian students studying in France, and in the subsequent years, the French government extended special assistance to Indian students amid the challenges posed by the global pandemic.

The meeting between PM Modi and President Macron also covered a range of mutual interests, as well as regional and international developments. After finishing his European tour, PM Modi returned home, having held successful bilateral meetings in Germany and Denmark to improve cooperation in various fields, comprising trade, energy, and green technology.
