The German Minister submits that the recent implementation of Germany's new immigration law will surely appeal and benefit the highly skilled professionals from India seeking prospects in Germany. Martin Dulig, the Saxon State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, and Transport, emphasizes that the law, which came into effect recently, particularly caters to the skilled workforce from India looking to pursue employment in Germany.
New Immigration Law of Germany to benefit Indian Skilled Workers
The minister summaries that Germany faces a major shortage of skilled labour, estimated at 4 million, with 4 lakh vacancies in Saxony alone. The new law also permits immigrants to bring their families along. Notably, Saxony provides childcare facilities for the children of skilled female workers, contributing to a higher female workforce participation ratio in the region.
Many prerequisites are outlined for immigrants to adapt into the German system, including updated visa processes and the recognition of skill certificates from India. Moreover, alterations have been made to facilitate acquiring German citizenship in conjunction with the new law.
Mr. Dulig, leading a delegation of 35 members to Coimbatore and Chennai for a week, highlights the interest of German industries in solidification of ties with Tamil Nadu's industrial area. He highlights the complementarity between Saxony and Tamil Nadu in terms of their strong small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), mechanical engineering, and automotive industries. Given India's youthful demographic and the demand for skilled workers by German industries, there is enough scope for collaborative partnerships.
Saxony targets to establish enduring and steady relationships with Indian industries, and the delegation seeks to improve ties between India and Saxony across political, economic, and scientific domains. Michaela Kuchler, the Consul General of Germany in Chennai, was also in attendance at the event.
