Following a thorough and productive discussion between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his counterpart Antonio Tajani, India and Italy have officially inked the Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement.
This agreement is planned to streamline the movement of workers, students, and professionals between the two nations. The signing of this agreement took place during the visit of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, where both the leaders engaged in detailed conversations covering a range of topics, including international affairs.
Jaishankar after the meeting posted on social media platform, X, i.e.
“A comprehensive and productive meeting this evening with DPM & FM
@Antonio_Tajani. Conversed about deepening our strategic partnership. Agreed that potential in agro-tech, innovation, space, defense and the digital domain should be explored. Spoke about the West Asia situation, Ukraine conflict and the Indo-Pacific landscape in detail.
He further added, appreciated Italy’s support for our initiatives and also for the G20 Presidency. Signed the Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement and the Cultural Exchange Program at the end of our talks.”
The Indian diaspora in Italy, amount to around 180,000, stands as the 3rd largest Indian community in Europe, after United Kingdom and Netherlands. Principally consisting of first-generation migrants, a substantial portion is involved in various economic sectors, including agriculture, dairy farming, the leather industry, construction, and the service sector.
