Canadian province Ontario has released the data of Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) nominations issued last year, i.e. in 2023. The OINP in 2023 witnessed a remarkable global turnout with nominations from 155+ countries. Surpassing all, India took the lead with the highest number of nominations.
Ontario PNP nominations in 2023
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) serves as Ontario’s immigration selection initiative, complementing the federal government’s immigration programs. It targets workers to address shortages in priority sectors like healthcare, specialized skilled trades, and technology, which are challenging to fill via local labour markets. Additionally, the program aims to bolster the vitality of the francophone community by selecting Francophones and bilingual workers.
In 2023, the demand for the OINP soared, resulting in its highest-ever number of nominations being issued. The province's nomination allocation from the federal government stood at 16,500 nominations, with the OINP meeting its full allocation in December.
