IRCC Opens 3rd Express Entry draw in a row- Invites 1500 Healthcare Workers

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) opened third Express Entry draw in row on July 6, 2023. This new draw was a category-based draw for the candidates with experience in Healthcare Occupations. This was Express Entry draw no.255. Find out more about the new invitation round.

Category-based EE draw for Healthcare Occupations on 6 July

In this latest draw, the IRCC invited 15,00 Healthcare professionals to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) Visa. The CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score required for this draw was 463 points or above. Now, after this latest draw, the IRCC has issued total 62,248 ITAs this year in overall 19 EE draws opened in the year 2023 until date.

EE Draw Analysis

This was second category-based draw for Healthcare occupations as the earlier one held on 28 June. The CRS score has dropped significantly compare to last Healthcare category draw, where in CRS was 476 points. Now, in two category-based EE draws for healthcare workers, the IRCC has invited total 2,000 candidates. 

Healthcare occupations available for category based EE draw

Among 6 categories announced by IRCC for category-based selection, healthcare occupations make up the highest number of eligible occupations, i.e. 35 NOC occupations in total:

  • Audiologists and speech language pathologists
  • Chiropractors
  • Dentists
  • Dieticians and nutritionists
  • Education counsellors
  • General practitioners and family physicians
  • Instructors of persons with disabilities
  • Kinesiologists and other professional occupation in therapy and assessment
  • Licensed practical nurses
  • Massage therapists
  • Medical laboratory assistants and related technical occupations
  • Medical laboratory technologists
  • Medical radiation technologists
  • Medical sonographers
  • Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Nursing coordinators and supervisors
  • Occupational therapists
  • Optometrists
  • Other assisting occupations in support of health services
  • Other practitioners of natural healing
  • Other professional occupations in health diagnosing and treating
  • Other technical occupations in therapy and assessment

Category-based draws in 2023

Now, the IRCC is constantly opening the category-based draws. This was the 3rd category-based draw of EE system. Find below the six new categories for which applicants may be eligible in category-based selection in EE draws:

  • Healthcare
  • Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  • Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food
  • Strong French-language proficiency
