New and Improved Nomination pathways of NSW Regional Migration

Australian state New South Wales (NSW) has announced new and improved Nomination pathways for NSW migration. Nomination by the state of New South Wales for this Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 491 allows skilled migrants to live, work, and study in specified regional areas launched by NSW for a duration of five years.

Two key pathways to obtain NSW nomination

There are two pathways to obtain NSW nomination for this visa:

  1. Pathway 1: Submit a direct application to Investment NSW if you possess a well-established work history with an employer based in regional NSW.
  2. Pathway 2: Receive an invitation to apply from Investment NSW.

Notably, attaining NSW nomination for this visa through 'Pathway 2' is highly competitive. As a result, the state strongly advise individuals contemplating NSW nomination via 'Pathway 2' to explore alternative Australia migration pathways and not delay in applying for NSW nomination until an invitation is received.

  1. Pathway 1 – Direct Application to Investment NSW:
  •  Apply directly to Investment NSW if you have a well-established work history with an employer based in regional NSW.
  • Verify Eligibility: Before submitting your Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect, maker certain compliance with both the visa and NSW nomination eligibility criteria.
  • Submit Your EOI: If eligible, submit an EOI in SkillSelect, explicitly requesting NSW nomination for this visa.
  • Apply for Nomination: Complete the online NSW nomination application form (coming soon).
  • Nomination Assessment: Expect your application to be assessed within approximately six weeks after payment. Kindly refrain from contacting us for updates during this period.

2. Pathway 2 – Invitation by Investment NSW:

    • To be considered for NSW nomination under 'Pathway 2', check eligibility before submitting your EOI in SkillSelect.
    • Submit Your EOI: If criteria are fulfilled, submit an EOI in SkillSelect, specifically requesting NSW nomination for this visa. Ensure that all claims in your EOI are supported by valid, non-expired documentation.
    • Invitation Process: NSW hold invitation rounds throughout the financial year. While all EOIs meeting guidelines are considered, occupations in NSW target sectors receive preference. Due to high demand, it is strongly advised not to wait for an invitation but to explore alternative migration pathways.
    • Respond Promptly if Invited: If invited, you have 14 days to complete your NSW nomination application. Provide valid documents to substantiate every claim made in your EOI; this 14-day window is not extendable.
    • Nomination Assessment: Expect your application to be assessed within approximately six weeks after payment. Please avoid contacting for updates during this period.

Basic Eligibility: To be eligible for NSW nomination, you must meet the following basic criteria:

  • Visa eligibility: Fulfil all visa requirements outlined by Home Affairs.
  • Skills assessment: Possess a valid skills assessment in an occupation listed on the eligible skilled occupation list for this visa.
  • Residency: Either currently residing in NSW continuously for a minimum of three months or residing offshore continuously for a minimum of three months.
