IRCC is now accepting applications for relaunched Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) is now accepting the applications for relaunched Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) from March 6, 2022. The old Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) closed on December 31, 2021.  The immigration department was accepting the pilot applications until March 5, 2022; however, as the Ministerial Instructions have expired on 5th March, therefore the IRCC is no more accepting applications under the old AIPP program.

Reintroduced AIP is now accepting applications

Recently, the IRCC restructured the old AIPP and made it a permanent program, i.e. AIP (Atlantic Immigration Program). Hence, with effect from 6th March onwards, restructured and permanent program, i.e. AIP, will accept the applications.

Eligiblity requirement to apply for AIP?

The foreign candidates, who qualify to apply, have the ability to economically establish in Atlantic Canada, wish to live in a province in the Atlantic region, and fulfil the below criteria, can apply to AIP:

  • Provincial endorsement
  • Meet minimum educational qualification requirements
  • If you have a job offer at the NOC 0 or A skill type or level, you must have a Canadian one-year post-secondary educational credential or higher, or the equivalent outside Canada.
  • If you have a job offer at the NOC B or C skill level, you must have a Canadian high school diploma, or the equivalent outside Canada.
  • Fulfil minimum language proficiency requirements for each NOC category are:
  • CLB/NCLC 5 for NOC 0, A and B
  • CLB/NCLC 4 for NOC C
  • Have minimum work experience in a qualifying occupation within the 3 years before the date of application including: the employment requirements applicable for the occupation identified in the employment offer, as listed in the National Occupation Classification (NOC) description;
  • Minimum employment offer requirements, i.e. in the last five years, you must have worked minimum 1,560 hours. This is the number of hours you would have worked in 1 year if you were working 30 hours per week.
  • Prove that you have enough funds to support yourself and your family when you arrive in Canada

How to submit application

The qualifying applicants need to submit the applications for Canadian PR (Permanent Resident) Visa under the Atlantic Immigration programs online or on paper to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO).
