IRCC completes issuing ITAs to Sponsors of Parents & Grandparents Program

The IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has finished issuing the Invitations to the sponsors of Parent and Grandparents Program (PGP) for the year 2022. It invited the probable sponsors from the pool of 155,313 left over probable sponsors who submitted an interest to sponsor form back in the year 2020.

The Parent and Grandparents Program (PGP) allows eligible Canadian permanent residents and citizens to sponsor their parents and grandparents to visit Canada on PR (Permanent Residence) visa.

PGP invitations sent for 2022

For the 2022 intake, the IRCC has sent ITAs to 23,100 candidates (randomly through a lottery system) in order to reach it’s target of accepting up to 15,000 complete applications. These Invitations to Apply (ITAs) sent by IRCC between October 12 and 20, 2022.

If you have received the ITA for the PGP 2022, you must submit your application to IRCC by the deadline mentioned on your invitation letter. The IRCC has issued the ITAs on the e-mail id mentioned by the candidates in Interest to sponsor form.

Candidates who did not receive ITA for PGP

If you have submitted the interest to sponsor form for Parent and Grandparents Program (PGP), but didn’t received the ITA through the lottery system, you can choose Super Visa pathway.

If you want your parents and grandparents to visit Canada, they can qualify to apply for a super visa. The super visa could let your parents/grandparents live in Canada for up to 5 years at a time. Parents and grandparents on a super visa can also apply for 2-year extensions to their stay while being in the maple leaf country.
