The government of Canada is making key efforts to promote the tourism in the country. To achieve this goal, now Parks Canada and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada are collaborating with each other to support sustainable tourism in Canada. This collaboration will fuel the economic growth of Canada’s significant tourism sector.
Collaboration of Parks Canada and TIAC
To upkeep its role in providing meaningful visitor experiences, Parks Canada team up with Indigenous people, local partners, businesses, service providers and industry leaders, i.e. the TIAC (Tourism Industry Association of Canada).
Parks Canada and TIAC has recently signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) that builds on complementary primacies in tourism to support and nurture a strong sustainable tourism sector while offering tourists across the country with opportunities to connect with nature and local culture.

With the help of this partnership, Parks Canada and TIAC will help the development, renewal, and promotion of accountable tourism products, including visitor experiences at Parks Canada managed places, associated regional tourism offers, and Native tourism products to further Canada as an global destination of choice.
Parks Canada’s directive is to safeguard and present the 224 protected places that it manages for the amusement of Canadians today and for future generations. This means protecting the ecological, cultural, and historical integrity of these cherished place while sharing them with Canadians and the world.
Tourism in Canada
Every year, popular destinations, i.e. National historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas are attracting over 21 million visits in Canada. Parks Canada destinations play a key role in the Canadian tourism industry.
Before 2020, tourism generated $102 billion in economic activity and 1.8 million jobs a year. Tourism is an key economic driver for Canada, predominantly in rural and remote areas, where 56 % of Canada’s tourism jobs are located.
