Quicker German Visas: Visa Appointments Wait time is just 2 days for Indians- German Ambassador

The waiting period for German visa appointments has considerably decreased from last year, with a maximum wait time of just 5 days. German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, uttered pride in the faster visa services for Indian citizens, notably improved processing times and the issuance of visas within an extraordinarily short duration.

Speaking about this incredible improvement in the wait times, Ackerman told ANI:

"We have in the last couple of weeks and months improved the visa service as such, that basically, your waiting time for an appointment is between two days and five days, actually,".

He further added, "And that's India-wise. So basically, we are very proud that now with the current service, we are extending to the Indian public, visas can be issued in a very short time, much better than a year ago. And I think we'll crack this year... I'm very happy to tell you that on the visa front, things are much better than they were,".

Germany is coping with a significant workforce deficit, particularly in sectors like IT, technology, medical care, contracting, and logistics. In response, employers are ever more relying on foreign skilled professionals to address these shortages. To address this issue, the German parliament, the Bundestag, recently started the first phase of an amended Skilled Immigration Act. The objective is to update and accelerate the entry process for skilled workers from non-European Union countries, enabling their contribution to the German workforce.

Indian students in Germany

At the same time, Germany has become an increasingly striking destination for Indian students seeking higher education abroad. As of August, the country hosted over 42,000 students from India, marking a 25% surge in a year and making them the largest group of foreign students in Germany.

Indicating the same Ackermann posted on the social media platform X.

 “Great! 42,000+ Indian students in Germany, 25 % more within one year. India now no. 1 group of foreign students in Germany, much faster than expected! Germany is popular among Indian students – and Indian students are popular in Germany, I hear from professors very often,”
