Tasmania Skilled Migration Update 2023-24- Tasmania has issued 372 Nominations until Sep 2023

Australian state of Tasmania has released the details of the Tasmania Skilled Migration Processing times and nomination places used in 2023-24. For the program year 2023-2024, Tasmania has received total 1,200 nomination places, i.e. 600 places each for Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190 and Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 491. Find out the details of processing time and nomination placed used until date. 

Nominations, applications and registrations of interest (ROI)

Until September 2023, Tasmania has used 372 Nomination places issuing nomination for both Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 visa. Take a look at the state nominations issued for each visa subclass. 

Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa:

  • Nominations –  211 of 600 places used
  • Nomination applications lodged but not decided – 35
  • Invitations to apply for nomination issued but not yet accepted – 22
  • Registrations  of interest  on hand  -  531

Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa:

  • Nominations – 161 of 600 places used
  • Nomination applications lodged but not decided – 41
  • Invitations to apply for nomination issued but not yet accepted – 18
  • Registrations  of interest  on hand  -  374

Migration Tasmania continuously chooses Registrations of Interest (ROIs) for nomination applications, extending up to 30 invitations weekly. Only the most competitive ROIs are granted the opportunity to seek nomination.

Processing times

The earliest unprocessed nomination application, dating back to September 19, 2023, shows a processing time of under 1 month. After an application is assigned for processing, Tasmania's migration department strives to deliver a decision within 10 days.

Tasmania 2023-24 Program Allocations

The Government of Australia has issued Tasmania’s quota for the state and territory nominated visa categories for the 2023-24 program year. The allocations are:

  • Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa: 600 places
  • Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa: 600 places

In the 2023-24 program year, no additional nomination allocations have been granted for the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) across any jurisdiction.

To apply for Tasmania state nomination, you need to check whether or not you fulfil the minimum Tasmanian nomination requirements and that you are eligible to apply. There are diverse nomination pathways and each has separate requirements and priority attributes that will determine your pass colour.
