Travel to Canada update- Find out the latest Travel & Vaccination requirements

The global pandemic hit most of the nations around the globe. However, despite the pandemic caused situation, Canada is one country that never stopped its immigration process and activities. It continued to invite the candidates for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) and now when the things are gradually getting back to normal; it is one by one easing the measures taken during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the candidates, who have recently received their COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) or got it few weeks back, wondering how can they prepare for landing in Canada, during the pandemic.

Can I Travel to Canada, if I have received the COPR?

All citizens and permanent residents of Canada (not showing symptoms consistent with COVID-19) can enter Canada.However, as of now, the Canadian government has suspended flights from India until September 21, 2021.

However, untilthis suspension is lifted, you can travel to Canada from India, through an indirect route. The passengers who are traveling to Canada from India via an indirect route need to obtain a pre-departure negative COVID-19 molecular test result from a third country before continuing their journey to Canada.

What are Covid test and Vaccination Requirement from Canadian Government?

You are suggested to be vaccinated before traveling to Canada to get the exemptions for fully vaccinated travellers. If you qualify for the fully vaccinated traveller exemption, you are exempt from the following:

  • quarantine
  • Day-8 testing requirement

Who is fully vaccinated traveller as per IRCC?

To become eligible for fully vaccinated traveller exemption, you must:

  • be eligible to enter Canada on the specific date you enter
  • have no signs or symptoms of COVID-19
  • have received the full series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine or a combination of accepted vaccines
  • have received your last dose at least 14 days prior to the day you enter Canada
    • Example: if your last dose was anytime on Thursday, July 1st, then Friday, July 16th would be the first day that you meet the 14-day condition
  • upload your proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN app
  • meet all other entry requirements (for example, pre-entry test)

Which are the accepted COVID-19 vaccines in Canada?

Find below the list of accepted Covid-19 vaccines in Canada:

  • Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2)
  • Moderna (mRNA-1273)
  • AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, Vaxzevria, AZD1222)

Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)
